About the Role
Are you obsessed with online shopping? That’s one of the key criteria for this position at SPH Media.
The Content & Solutioning Division of SPH Media is looking for an Affiliate Marketing Assistant Editor to join its team. This person will be responsible for creating always-on shopping content with preferred external merchant partners.
 
You will be primarily responsible for planning and executing affiliate content for The Straits Times. The scope of this role is dynamic and expected to grow across other SPH Media news titles, as well as lifestyle titles such as HardwareZone, Harper’s Bazaar Singapore and Home & Decor.
In this role you’ll work with a wide variety of merchants across the home, tech, fitness, fashion, beauty and family categories. You should have sharp editorial instincts with strong SEO knowledge, be performance-focused and skilled at making data-driven decisions and seeking out new opportunities based on content and shopping trends. This position will report to the Affiliate Marketing Associate Director.
Experience in lifestyle editorial is mandatory. You must know what the audience wants – and how best to create it.
 
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage the monthly shopping content calendar for The Straits Times, with a goal of publishing up to 4 shopping stories per week

  • Pitch and develop story ideas that align with audience interest, traffic goals and affiliate revenue, using SEO best practices to guide ideation and structure

  • Edit and/or write shopping stories across lifestyle, home, fashion, beauty, tech, and other verticals as needed

  • Assign and manage freelancers, ensuring all content is on-brief, accurate, well-researched, and optimised for performance

  • Track and report on story performance, including page views, click-through rates, conversions, and revenue

  • Draw actionable insights from performance data to inform content planning and strategy optimisation

  • Support the expansion of affiliate content across other SPH Media news titles (e.g. TNP, Zaobao), working with teams to localise strategy and tone

  • Contribute shopping content to SPH Media’s lifestyle publications (e.g. HardwareZone, Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, Home & Decor etc) as required

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to respond to insights and opportunities

  • Stay on top of the latest deals, launches and trends, and work with preferred retailers to plan for upcoming shopping events

  • Ensure all content aligns with the editorial voice, tone, and standards of each platform

  • Comply with media law and ethical guidelines
Who we are looking for
  • Minimum 3 years of experience creating lifestyle content at a digital-first outlet – strong preference for candidates with a background in consumer-focused content

  • Strong editorial judgment and sharp writing/editing skills, with a keen eye for what makes a story engaging and profitable

  • Proven experience using SEO and analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics) to inform content decisions

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and pivot strategies based on performance metrics

  • Proven track record of meeting performance targets in the digital content space

  • Detail-oriented and a gift for multitasking to meet the demands of always-on content creation and aggressive deadlines

  • A passion for online shopping and a strong instinct for what drives readers to click and convert

  • Excellent command of the English language, written and verbal

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Ready to grow with the role and take on new opportunities as they come
