About the Role

A newspaper for the local Malay community, Berita Harian was established on July 1, 1957. It presents news and issues from home, the region and the world, featuring a wide spectrum of topics from sports to politics and religion. Other highlights include Malay culture and tradition, arts and heritage, family, hobbies and leisure. Berita Harian also provides a platform for the Malay community to voice their views on issues that concern them. It is a paper that speaks with authority and understands the needs of the Malay community.

As an Audience & Growth Executive, you will assist to develop and implement strategies to expand the reach and engagement of Berita Harian. Your role involves understanding the target audience, identifying opportunities for growth, and executing plans to achieve business objectives. You will also play a key role in shaping and curating content across digital platforms, including the website, mobile app and social media channels.

You will also be required to identify emerging growth tactics and new platforms to grow the community using an analytical approach. To be successful in this role, you must be a native user of data analytics tools who can make informed strategic and audience decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a strategist and a go-between all areas of audience growth and engagement.
  • Shape and curate content for Berita Harian website and app, and build an overall social strategy across platforms
  • Identify key target segments and develop tailored marketing programs to reach out to these target segments.
  • Generate new marketing ideas/campaigns to better engage our current and potential audience
  • Champion promotional activities, from conceptualisation to completion, including administrative duties within the marketing scope of work.
  • Plan, manage and execute all marketing, promotions and event plans with accuracy and in a timely manner to create awareness and branding through various platforms
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to evaluate the success of campaigns and identify areas for improvement.
 
Job Requirements
  • Relevant degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Journalism, or any relevant fields
  • Min 1 year of relevant experience; fresh graduates with relevant portfolio are also welcome
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Good news sense and deep understanding of current affairs and media trends
  • Familiarity with analytics tools, strong analytical skills, using data to inform/support decision-making
  • Strong ability to work under pressure, make sound decisions at a snap, and multi-task
  • Keen learner, willingness to pick up new skill sets
  • Good cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Well-organised and a self-starter, capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Experience in social media platforms and management systems
  • Effectively bilingual in English and Malay to be able to cater to the Berita Harian audience.
  • Willingness to work on weekends/public holidays (where required)
