Group Technology enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group Technology, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.
About The Role
The public cloud department of the GIC team owns, develops, and supports the public cloud strategy of the bank. This strategy is enabled by a truly cloud-native public adoption tool, called Evolve, which offers a unique way to onboard public cloud through a directive approach to cloud architecture.
We are looking for a Cloud Project Manager to drive the delivery of our public cloud roadmap. This role requires a unique blend of project management discipline and technical fluency. You will not be writing the code, but you will be coordinating the engineers who do, ensuring that the "Evolve" platform and associated cloud infrastructure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and adhere to our strict governance standards.
You will act as the bridge between the technical engineering teams and the business stakeholders, translating complex technical challenges into clear project timelines and deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Project Delivery & Roadmap Management: Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of cloud infrastructure projects, specifically focusing on features and enhancements for the "Evolve" platform.
- Agile Governance: Facilitate Agile ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives) for the Cloud Engineering and DevOps teams to ensure steady velocity and removal of blockers.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with application teams, security/compliance teams, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and manage expectations regarding cloud onboarding and migration timelines.
- Resource & Dependency Management: Coordinate cross-functional teams (Networking, Security, Compute) to ensure dependencies are resolved efficiently, preventing bottlenecks in the CI/CD and deployment processes.
- Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify technical and operational risks (e.g., security gaps, architectural misalignments) and drive mitigation plans with the L2/L3 engineering leads.
- Reporting & Metrics: Track and report on key project metrics (burn-down, velocity, migration status) to senior leadership, providing transparency on the health of the public cloud strategy.
- Financial Oversight: Assist in tracking cloud consumption costs and project budgets, ensuring resource usage aligns with financial forecasts.
- Change Management: Champion the adoption of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices by managing the cultural and process changes required for teams moving to the public cloud.
Requirements
- Project Management Experience: Experience managing complex IT projects, with at least 3 years focused on Cloud, Infrastructure, or DevOps environments.
- Cloud Fluency: Solid understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS services. You do not need to code, but you must understand the concepts of Infrastructure-as-Code , Cloud Infrastructure.
- Methodology: Strong proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies. Certification (CSM, PSM, or PMI-ACP) is highly desirable. PMP or PRINCE2 is a plus.
- Technical Acumen: Ability to comprehend technical discussions regarding APIs, security controls, and automation to effectively challenge estimates and prioritization.
- Certification: GCP Associate Cloud Engineer or Cloud Digital Leader certification (or equivalent AWS certification) is strongly preferred.
- Tools: Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and MS Project.
- Problem Solving: Proven ability to navigate complex organizational structures and resolve conflicts between improved agility (speed) and banking regulations (control).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical progress to non-technical leadership.
