The Role
The Vertex technology team develops internal propriety software applications to enhance Venture Capital (VC) investment analysis and operations. This is an exciting time in the industry as firms increasingly leverage technology, data science and artificial intelligence to differentiate themselves from competitors.
Job Responsibilities
- Be involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, experimentation and prototyping, implementation and deployment.
- Explore latest advancements in Generative AI research and technology. Design and integrate relevant solutions into operational workflows and applications to achieve business outcomes.
- Identify, analyse and integrate relevant datasets to generate insights.
- Work closely with various stakeholders including investment partners, analysts, and portfolio companies.
- Be part of a small but high-performing, agile and innovative team to drive tangible impact in Venture Capital markets.
Job Requirements
- 0 to 5 years of working experience as a software engineer or related roles.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in disciplines related to Software Engineering/Data Engineering/Data Science (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Operations Research) or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong fundamentals in full stack software development, working on production applications, operating and maintaining existing code bases.
- Good understanding and familiarity with Generative AI, RAG, and agentic AI systems, their potential applications and limitations.
- Familiarity with deploying and managing applications on commercial clouds i.e. GCP using techniques like automation, containers, and infrastructure as code.
- Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate as a team.
- Experience programming in Python and JavaScript.
- Experience working with Django, FastAPI, React, PostgreSQL, Terraform.
- (Preferred): Experience with LangChain, LangGraph or other LLM-related frameworks.
- (Preferred): Experience in deploying Gen AI solutions to production.
- (Preferred): Experience building autonomous AI agents with capabilities including tool use, reasoning, planning and multi-step task execution.
